Many animals are dying due to climate change which is decreasing and taking away their natural habitat. Walruses are being trampled to death and calves separated from their mothers due to sea ice retreating and walruses having to come ashore to forage for food, this 'haul-out' is shown in the You Tube video above. Guillemonts are killing their own chicks due to starvation. Geoff York is part of the WWF's Arctic programme and in the video below he discusses these walrus haul-outs.

The artist duo Steinbrener/Dempf have represented the impacts humans have on the environment by placing objects in zoo enclosures to raise awareness in October 2009.
